Dive into exciting activities that challenge, inspire, and create lasting memories. Camp Hi-Ho offers something for every camper, whether you love action, creativity, or exploration!
Campers at Camp Hi-Ho can choose the activities they want to enjoy, whether it’s fishing, playing with puppies, or trying something new. Our staff closely monitors all activities, ensuring safety and supervision. We believe campers should have fun doing what they love in a safe, supportive environment, without being pushed into activities they don’t enjoy.
The lake is a hot spot during summer! Campers can enjoy water trampolines, blobs for different age groups, fishing for bluegill and bass, and frog catching. The rope swing offers a splashy entrance, while paddle boats, canoes, and kayaks provide a relaxing break. For extra thrills, the 100-foot slip n’ slide lets campers cool off as they race down the hill. Read about lake safety in our FAQ’s below.
Sports have always been a hit at Camp Hi-Ho! Our upgraded multi-sport court offers basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, soccer, tetherball, baseball, football, and kickball. Our latest additions include a Gaga pit and an angle ball field! Counselors are always near by ensuring fair play, safety, and hydration. We’re always open to new games and camper ideas!
In 2017, we realized our grounds could offer more than just fun and adventure, so we introduced friendly animals to give campers a chance to connect with nature in a new way. Many campers favorite memories include interacting with our baby goats, chickens, lambs, piglets, and ducks!
At Camp HiHo, we have two gardens where campers can dig into the soil, pick fresh fruits and vegetables, and share their harvest with others. In 2018, we added a pollinator garden, where kids can see flowers in bloom and learn about the role bees, butterflies, and birds play in pollination. Our goal is to teach campers about growing food and the importance of caring for our planet.
The fort at Camp HiHo is packed with fun! With three two-story forts, a rope swing, monkey swing, zip line, climbing wall, and balance beam, it’s a hub of excitement. Water gun wars are a favorite here, so expect some splashes!
We also added “Hammock City” with 20 shaded hammocks where campers can relax with a Popsicle, read, or even nap. Counselors keep everything safe as kids swing, zip, and cool off in this shady adventure spot.
Horse riding is a central part of Camp Hi-Ho and is available all day to our campers. We have trained counselors with equine experience to ensure safety and fun for campers of all ages interested in gaining experience with horses.
Using two of our horses, campers ride at a slow pace in both indoor and outdoor arenas. They learn basic riding skills, such as mounting, posture, turning, dismounting, and simple horse care, including a spray-down on hot days! Morning and afternoon time slots are available, making it perfect for beginners. This is not for advanced riders.
The Pet Barn at Camp Hi-Ho has successfully found loving homes for thousands of puppies and kittens over the years. Campers love having the chance to cuddle and play with these cuties during the day or even have a sleepover with a puppy or kitten, with all supplies provided!
Our mission is to continue placing these animals in good homes—so if you’re considering adding a new family member, the Pet Barn is a wonderful option! To reserve a pet for a sleepover or adoption, please complete the adoption form emailed the week before your camp session. You can also access it in the FAQ’s below!
At Camp Hi-Ho, we offer two archery options. In static archery, campers shoot 10-30 yards at stationary targets. The range is open all day to campers of all ages. Two staff members monitor this station for safety and to facilitate games and competition!
In 2015, we partnered with Shelby County Parks to create a state-of-the-art 3D Archery course featuring 20 unique targets, including deer, turkey, and bear. Campers ages 8-11 take a short hike to the course and after a quick tutorial on proper shooting techniques, campers explore the course with counselors available for guidance!
Arts & Crafts are a Camp Hi-Ho staple! Hosted under our covered pavilion, campers can make tie-dye shirts, lanyards, necklaces, bracelets, get their face painted, hair wrapped and more! Check the FAQ section below for information on tie-dying!
Absolutely. Lake safety is our top priority. We have at least nine certified lifeguards stationed at key areas, and all campers must wear life jackets around the lake, except at the fishing pavilion. A shallow end is roped off for younger swimmers and is closely monitored by beach lifeguards.
It’s true, campers are not told which activities to participate in or for how long at Camp Hi-Ho. We focus on giving our campers the freedom to make their own choices! We do encourage all campers to give everything a try because it’s all fun, safe, and healthy, but we don’t force them to participate in activities they have no interest in.
*Our Junior High-Ho group (all 4-year-olds and first-time 5-year-olds) do not have non-structured freedom. They will be in their group with their counselor for the week, and go from activity-to-activity with their counselor.
For a tie-dye shirt please bring your own plain white tee shirt, purchase the “original white tee” during registration, our buy one from our shop! Please only pack small items please, like socks and shirts, in order to conserve our tie-dye. Sorry, no bed sheets here!
We tie-dye every day except Monday, so be sure to inform your counselor that your child has something to tie dye so we can get them to arts & crafts!
1.) Open the bag up in a sink or tub–basically anywhere that can be cleaned easily!
2.) Take the fabric out of the bag, remove all rubber bands, unfold the shirt and begin rinsing.
3.) Rinse and wring out the shirt until the water is mostly clear.
4.) Put the shirt in the washing machine by itself! (You don’t want any stray dye to get on other clothes, so it’s best to run it alone).
5.) Put the shirt in the dryer on a low setting. Once its all dry the shirt is ready!
6.) After this process, your shirt will be safe to wear and can be washed and dried with other clothes.
It’s simple! Fill out this form:
