Transportation

Bus Riders

Coming from the Louisville area? We’ve got you covered with convenient bus transportation!

Pickup and drop-off are located at the back of Ballard High School (6000 Brownsboro Rd, 40222), between the baseball and football fields.

There’s a $30/camper fee for bus use for the week.

The bus departs Ballard at 9:15 am—  please arrive between 8:50 am and 9:10 am for check-in with your counselor.

Return time is 3:15 pm.

Car Riders

Morning carpool runs from 8:45am –  9:15am at Camp Hi-Ho.

We’ll email you detailed drop-off instructions closer to camp.

As you enter, follow the directions to drop your campers off with their counselors in the front parking lot.

For afternoon pick-up, we have two staggered times to ease traffic on Aiken Rd and ensure a safe carpool experience:
– Last names A-L: 2:50 pm
– Last names M-Z: 3:10 pm

We will email you the week prior to your camp week with important information about transportation and your camper’s experience.

Camp Packing Checklist

What To Bring:

– Sunscreen:  Apply before drop-off, and counselors will reapply at lunch. Please pack labeled sunscreen with your camper.

– Towel:  A towel that can handle a little mud is ideal.

– Lunch:  If you didn’t select the camp lunch option, pack a cooler lunchbox with an ice pack.

– Shoes: Crocs, Natives, or water shoes work best—something durable and mud-friendly.

– Swimsuit: Have your camper wear it under their clothes.

– Snack Shack Money: If you didn’t pre-load, send cash/check in a labeled envelope for additional snacks. We suggest $15-$25 for the week

Reminder: Label every item with your camper’s name for easy return during lost & found!

What To Leave At Home:

– Electronics: iPads, phones, e-readers, and tablets aren’t needed here! Camp is all about unplugging and enjoying the outdoors. These items can easily get lost or damaged, so let your camper have a tech-free adventure.

– Pocket Knives & Tools: We’ve got all the tools needed for building and exploring. Please keep items like knives, hammers, and other tools at home.

– Fishing Poles: We provide plenty of fishing poles, but if your camper wants to bring their own, be sure to remove the hook before bringing it to camp.

Lunch

Lunch is available for $55 per camper per week, with tasty sides like chips, string cheese, Gogurt, or pudding, and a choice of juice or water.

Please note that lunch selections are set for the entire week, so we do not accept daily lunch orders. You’re of course always welcome to pack a lunch from home!

Weekly Menu:
Monday: Chicken Nuggets
Tuesday: Ham, Turkey, or Cheese Sandwich
Wednesday: Jet’s Cheese Pizza
Thursday: Chicken Nuggets
Friday: Grilled All-Beef Hotdogs

Snack Shack Menu

Age Groups

At Camp Hi-Ho, our groups help us keep campers organized, safe, and ready for adventure while giving everyone the freedom to explore independently. Group assignments are simply for logistical and safety purposes, so there is no need to request campers to be grouped together. Once they are checked in, campers are free to dive right into their favorite activities with friends old and new! Here’s a quick look at our groups:

Junior Hi-Ho: Ages 4-5*

Required for 4-year-olds; optional for 5-year-olds who are new to camp; There is an additional $50 fee for Junior Hi-Ho

Junior Hi-Ho is perfect for our youngest campers, ages 4-5, who need a bit more structure as they adjust to the independence of Camp Hi-Ho. With a low camper-to-staff ratio (around 8:1), Junior Hi-Ho provides a more guided experience, where a dedicated counselor leads the group from activity to activity. This allows campers to enjoy everything—from the lake and barnyard to crafts, fishing, and beyond —at a pace that feels comfortable. It’s an ideal way for new and younger campers to experience the fun of Camp Hi-Ho with a little extra support and guidance.

Our youngest and most supervised independent group, “blue groupers” are free to explore and experience everything camp has to offer. We keep ratios low to ensure these campers feel safe while enjoying every adventure. This group is also good for first-timer 5 year olds who want to jump into the camp experience and hit the ground running!

Always our most rambunctious group, Red Group campers are the life of the party. Whether it’s their wild imaginations, adventurous spirits, or the confidence that comes with being returning campers, these kids are full of enthusiasm and ready for a good time! By the time 3:15 PM rolls around, they’re often ready for a well-deserved nap (and so are we)!

The Green Group is where the fun really amps up for our 9-10-year-olds! Seasoned campers will be especially excited, as they finally get to join the “big kids” and take part in thrilling activities like 3D archery, trail riding, and bouncing on the Big Blob. They might know the ropes, but there’s always something new to discover, and they can’t wait to dive into the adventure!

This group is made up of our oldest campers, who have become seasoned veterans of Camp Hi-Ho! They hold a special place in our hearts, as they often return for multiple years and are eager to help the younger campers learn the ropes. Even as the oldest group, the Yellow Group still has a blast participating in all our activities and soaking up the fun that camp has to offer! And if you’re 11 or 12 and thinking about trying camp for the first time, don’t hesitate—there’s always room for new friends and exciting experiences!
