Education: Art/Drama Based Internship

  • Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:15am – 3:15pm
  • Opportunity to work events and birthday parties on the weekends during our season

Mission of Position

This position is a creatively open project. We are looking for someone who wants to implement a new program for our camp to do art projects and drama with our campers. You would have the creative freedom to choose the projects for the campers, and you will have a new project each week. This could be anywhere from painting, to pottery, to short skits. These projects should be interactive and ideally should span through different age ranges.

Qualifications

  • A self-motivated individual who is able to work cooperatively with other interns, staff, campers, and parents
  • Must be enrolled in college
  • Must have effective communication and organizational skills
  • Must be able to create different projects to span across different age groups
  • Must have some artistic background
  • Preference given to Education & Art based majors

Duties Include

  • Having a group of campers each week
  • Overseeing supplies needed throughout the summer
  • Preparing and cleaning up project space each day
  • Creating a new project each week for the campers that includes different ages ranges
  • Being able to engage and supervise the campers during activity
  • Having a week-long build-up to the Friday showcase, occurs during Talent Show
  • Meeting with administrator each week to go over the current week and what the plan will be for the week ahead
  • Submitting a short description of your week’s activity to the PR intern to be included in the newsletter

Goals

  • To further engage our campers in a new activity
  • To allow an opportunity for the intern to test different activities/projects at different levels to see what works and what can be improved upon
  • To show the importance of art and expression and how they can play a part in learning and understanding from the world around them
  • To allow campers to work together cooperatively to put together a play/project that can be shared with everyone on Friday
  • To allow the intern an opportunity to make a measured and real impact on Camp Hi-Ho
